Water Saving Tips & Tricks

At Jack Stephan Plumbing, our Orange County and Los Angeles plumbers know that saving water means saving money and helping to conserve during the drought.

As a result, our professionals have created a short list of helpful ways you can conserve water at both your home and business.

Water Saving Tips & Tricks:

  1. Fix Leaky Sinks & Toilets: Did you know a leaky faucet that drips one time per second can waste more than 8 gallons of water each day? Also, a leaky toilet can attribute to more than 40% of your total water usage. By taking care of leaky fixtures, you can drastically reduce the amount of water you are consuming, which can translate to major savings on your monthly bill.
  2. Install High Efficiency Fixtures: From low flush toilets to low flow faucets and showerheads, there are an assortment of plumbing fixtures on the market designed to save both water and money. High efficiency and dual flush toilet models use 1.28 gpf, unlike some older model’s 1.6 gpf design. Additionally, low flow showerheads and faucets offer great savings without compromising stream pressure. Plus, they come in a variety of colors and styles, so you’ll be sure to find one that suits your style.
  3. Check Your Water Meter: When no water is currently being used, our Orange County and Los Angeles plumbers suggest taking a look at your meter and noting the reading. Then, return several hours later and see if the meter has moved. If the reading differs and you have not utilized water during this timeframe, you may have an undetected water leak, which should be analyzed and corrected by a professional plumber.
